The DLAB JRA aims to develop, produce and evaluate systems and protocols for deuterium labelling of biological macromolecules with the aim of enhancing the scope and interdisciplinarity of biological neutron scattering at large scale facilities throughout Europe. Specific objectives are:
• Exploitation of developments at the ILL-EMBL Deuteration Laboratory in Grenoble to enable more efficient production of specifically and non-specifically H/D-labelled cells, proteins, nucleic acids and other bio-molecules.
• Development of more efficient methods to produce deuterium labelled biological macromolecules that will benefit the European biological community.
• Evaluation and exploitation of these methods and reagents in improvement of downstream technology, including data collection and interpretation for neutron scattering.
• Training of young scientists in these techniques, through involvement on the users programmes of the Deuteration Laboratory. |
